Job summary

A leading IT support company in Singapore is looking for a Desktop Support Specialist to provide comprehensive support for end-users' desktop and laptop issues. Responsibilities include hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with security policies. Ideal candidates will have over 2 years of experience in desktop support and a strong grasp of various operating systems and networking concepts. Salary commensurate with experience.

Job description
Responsibilities:
  • Provide first and second-level support to end-users for desktop and laptop issues (hardware, software, networking).
  • Install, configure and upgrade desktop hardware, operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux), and software applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve desktop hardware, software and networking issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure desktops and laptops are compliant with the company’s security policies, including patching, antivirus software and system updates.
  • Set up and configure user accounts, permissions and profiles within the IT environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktop network connectivity and ensure seamless access to company resources.
  • Deploy software applications and system updates via remote deployment tools and scripting.
  • Document all support tickets, technical procedures and configurations for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform routine checks, preventive maintenance and repair of desktop equipment.
  • Work with other IT staff to assist in projects related to desktop deployment, migrations and upgrades.
  • Assist and train users on desktop software, best practices and troubleshooting procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or similar technical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows (7, 10), macOS and Linux desktop environments.
  • Experience with common desktop applications (Microsoft Office Suite, email clients, etc.) and troubleshooting software-related issues.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
  • Familiarity with desktop hardware components and ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware issues.
  • Experience using remote desktop tools and software deployment technologies.
  • Experience with Active Directory for user management, group policies and permissions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with end-users.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
