Role Description

We are seeking a Interior Design Manager to lead and oversee design development and coordination for major projects in Malaysia.

They will require excellent project and design management. Strong communication skills will be vital to for client relationship management and for collaborating with the interior design teams in Hachem Singapore and Hachem Australia.

Key competencies
  • Excellent project management background in high end hotels and hospitality.
  • Previous experience working with Marriott standards.
  • An ability to translate the interior design requirements of the project, under the control of the Principal Director, to the building structure and space available.
  • Manage project teams in programming client needs, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration.
  • An ability to manage and negotiate with the design team, matters of critical or technical importance which may influence the creative direction.
  • Ability to work through technical design issues with consultants to find cost effective solutions for our clients.
  • Excellent client relationship management, communication, and team mentoring skills.
  • Assist Hachem Management team (Melbourne and Singapore) to implement and achieve strategic business goals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Qualifications and skills required
  • Tertiary qualification of a Bachelor of Interior Design, Architecture, or similar.
  • 10+ years of professional experience within the same industry.
  • Experience in hotel and hospitality design is a must.
  • Skilled in Adobe Programme, AutoCAD, InDesign, Sketch-up, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and willingness to learn
  • Imaginative and creative thinking skills
Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Principal to understand client briefs and define project scope, style, and requirements.
  • Lead the planning and execution of commercial projects, including interior design, construction documentation, cost and time estimations.
  • Manage all phases of architectural design – from preliminary concepts to working drawings and specifications for authority submission and construction use.
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals and tender documents and manage the tendering process on behalf of clients.
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Provide project leadership, set realistic timelines, and manage deliverables in collaboration with Directors, Associates, and the Interiors team to meet client deadlines.
  • Manage the budgets and timelines of projects under your responsibility.
