Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a Senior Design Coordinator to oversee design processes and manage project execution. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of design experience, demonstrating advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and a strong understanding of engineering design and local construction practices. This role requires leadership in project design meetings, adherence to design standards, and effective communication with clients and project teams.

Job description

Purpose

• Plans / Defines the design deliverables (referring to the contract), design sequencing &stages
• Defines production schedule & personnel requirements (with Planner, input from Design Coord.)
• Plans, checks,monitors& reports on design progress (with Planner, input from Design Coord.)
• Oversees design efficiency and hours utilisation.
• Set freeze dates and major revision issue dates (e.g. 30%/IFD, 60%, 90%/IFT, IFC)
• Revision control management is properly executed (incl. drawingsstatusing, rackmgtetc…)

Job Responsibilities

• Leads Project Design Meetings (internal & external)
• Chair project designreviews
• Sets formats of design reports,presentationsand design reviews
• Ensures Peer reviews are planned and executed.
• Manages/Issues the design SOP’s to be used on theproject
• Ensures Design coordinators agree CAD Standards at projectoutset
• Defines and Implements the Document Control procedures, and ensures Doc Controlexecutes
• Ensures equipment andcomponenttagging, symbology formats areagreed
• Issues any client design guides and ensures engineers, design coordinators / designers followit
• Ensures review and update of standard detaildrawings, andmaintained properly.
• Implement procurement strategy (package list) into design planning andsequencing
• Identifiesdesign changes to project manager,Participatein design change evaluationprocess
• Liaseswith / oversees the Design Coordinator(s)
• Ensure that designcordinationmeetings happen and areeffective
• Oversee key that interfacing points aremanaged
• (e.g. Archi with C&S backgrounds, BMS [Process/Mech/Elec/ELV] et cetera…)
• Defines format and tracks all design co-ordination tools, including Room Book,Loadlist, Interface Matrix, Facility Interface Matrix and all interdisciplinary interfaces and data management issues.
• Responsible for ensuring facilities CSA requirements are captured (such as louvres, trenches, sumps, penetrations, openings, plinths embeds/cast-ins etc).
• Ensures required building sections areidentified(also consulting with PM / client / Des Coord.)
• Undertake the assigned work scope in a professional and responsiblemanner
• Protect the interest of thecompany
• Fully awareness of his / her scope of work and the extent of the obligations of M+W
• Ad hoc duties asdeterminedbymanagement

Job Requirements

• Degree inEngineering
• At least10 yearsof design andco-ordinationexperience
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software like Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, PDF document generation and management.
• Technical knowledge and understanding of Engineering Design and Construction
• Technical knowledge and understanding of project execution processes in a fast track environment.
• Extensive knowledge of local code of practice for design implementation.
• Extensive local construction knowledge.
