Title: Deployed Customer Engineer (DCE)
Location: Remote Singapore (Global travel as required)
Reports to: Tech Health Lead
Role Overview
As a DCE, you are the technical bridge between Couchbase’s engineering excellence and our customers’ most ambitious business goals. You will embed in customer engineering teams, writing production‑grade code, building high‑performance database architectures, and ensuring our platform powers mission‑critical, AI‑driven applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Implementation & Development – Write clean, scalable code to build integrations, APIs, and data models that connect Couchbase with customer ecosystems.
- Product Configuration – Expertly configure Couchbase Server, Capella, and Mobile products to optimize for latency, throughput, and reliability.
- Architecture Design – Design and implement advanced data architectures, including Vector Search and RAG patterns for modern AI applications.
- Customer Integration & Success – Integrate directly with customer development teams, participating in sprints and code reviews; troubleshoot complex distributed systems and performance bottlenecks; translate business requirements into technical milestones to drive rapid Time‑to‑Value.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Provide product feedback, advocate for features and fixes, and partner with Solution Engineers to identify expansion opportunities.
Skills & Abilities
- Polyglot Developer – Strong proficiency in at least two major languages (Java, Python, Go, Node.js, C#).
- Database Native – Deep understanding of NoSQL concepts, distributed systems, and SQL-based query languages (N1QL).
- Consultative Mindset – Ability to explain complex technical trade‑offs to developers and executive stakeholders.
- Operational Agility – Comfortable with Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift), networking (VPCs, DNS, load balancing, security).
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Technical Consulting.
- Proven track record of deploying large‑scale distributed databases or data‑intensive applications.
- Drive to "Attack Hard Problems" and empathy to "Be a Great Human."
Success Metrics (12–18 Months)
- Deployment Velocity – Reduce time from kickoff to production Go‑Live.
- Technical Health – Maintain high performance‑to‑cost ratios and 0% churn due to technical blockers; author runbooks and best practices.
- Community Impact – Contribute reusable code samples, connectors, utilities, or documentation to the Couchbase ecosystem.
- Expansion – Identify and validate at least 2 new use cases within assigned strategic accounts.
