Data Centre Team Lead

Work location - Defu (office hours)

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of 24x7 operations staff and shift team leads, including managing training needs, assigning tasks, and providing guidance and feedback on performance.
  • Manage discussions and submissions with relevant authorities to obtain licenses and certifications.
  • Develop and manage capacity plans, programs and processes for data centre services such as space, power, cooling, building soft services, and tenant requirements.
  • Spearhead tasks assigned by Corporate HQ, and lead or support Finance audits and Group Data Centre Operations (GDCO) programs and initiatives. Oversee tasks relating to EHS and ESG reporting.
  • Lead and support facility management activities, including maintenance schedules, break-fix works, and tracking and maintaining all documents such as EOPs/SOPs and as-built drawings.
  • Understand the design and operation of each building system to achieve cost and operational efficiency.
  • Support shift team leads by obtaining approvals for all change activities in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, with focus on maintaining facility uptime.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Technical Service Management.
  • Support the DC Manager and act as Level 2 escalation point for all onsite operational incidents, ensuring all remote requests are completed within Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations (e.g. fire, evacuation, equipment failure), address customer concerns and perform standby duties.
  • Review, validate, and schedule all requests on the internal Web Portal ticketing system, including user requests, incidents and provisioning.
  • Lead facility improvement projects, coordinate fit-out projects, and manage problem resolution.
  • Manage the service level commitments for all internal contractors and vendors by reviewing contracts, monitoring deliverables and conducting regular performance assessments.
  • Perform root cause analysis on outages and act as technical SME/advisor for Building Engineers and Property Management.
  • Negotiate quotations from vendors, raise PR/Pos, manage asset disposal as required and prepare customer RHS/Power billing.
  • Lead implementation of ISO27001, ISO5001, ISO20000, ISO23001, TVRA, SSAE18, OSPAR, client/GDCO audits and any other audits as directed by management.
  • Ensure effective implementation of data centre safety, security and customer support policies and procedures.
  • Oversee onsite security operations, including processes, manpower and use of security software systems.
  • Any other tasks or projects as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Computing, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in a 24x7 operations environment, including leading a team of specialists.
  • Possess relevant facilities management and/or data centre related certifications, such as ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, CDCE, CDCMP, SFATC, etc.
  • Familiar with certification standards, such as LEED Gold, BCAIDA Green Mark Platinum, Uptime Institute Tier III, MAS TVRA, ISO27001, ISO5001, ISO20000, ISO23001, TVRA, SSAE18, OS PAR.
  • Good technical knowledge in M&E systems, network infrastructure, security, data centre facility systems, etc.
  • Broad understanding of cloud technologies, networking, data centre facilities, system applications and related IT systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent team player with a pro-active learning attitude, strong communication skills, and analytical capabilities.
