Job description
1. Key Project ExperienceRequirements
Must-have:
  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Proven ability to lead the design and evolution of large-scale distributed system architectures, especially for high-concurrency IoT data processing. Not just delivering features, but ensuring system scalability, security, and stability.
  • IoT & Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the “device–edge–cloud” architecture. Experience coordinating cross-functional software and hardware teams; capable of defining device access standards and edge computing strategies, and resolving data consistency challenges in unstable network environments.
  • Product-Minded Engineering (Product Thinking): Strong product mindset, able to lead teams to deliver solutions with real value from the perspective of end users (B2C) or enterprise customers (B2B).
  • Strong Understanding of AI 2.0: Solid understanding of current LLMs as well as traditional AI 1.0 / machine learning approaches, especially applications involving time-series data.
Preferred:
  • Software background in energy storage, photovoltaics, new energy, or related industries.
  • Experience leading the architectural evolution of IoT or energy-related PaaS/SaaS platforms, with hands-on experience handling massive device connectivity and data volumes.
  • Experience managing cross-border or multinational teams, with the ability to build efficient communication mechanisms between global strategy and local R&D centers.
2. Core Responsibilities
1) Architecture Strategy & Technology Roadmap
  • Define a 3–5 year technology roadmap.
  • Own architectural decision-making, covering microservice decomposition, API standardization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and distributed system patterns.
  • Ensure high-concurrency processing capabilities to support real-time IoT data streams (target: millions of devices, sub-second latency).
  • Establish and track non-functional requirements: scalability targets, reliability SLAs (99.99%+), security baselines, and disaster recovery objectives.
  • Drive technical due diligence to support partnerships and platform integrations aligned with business growth.
  • Align technology strategy with business expansion across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and emerging markets.
2) IoT and Edge–Cloud Integration
  • Lead edge–cloud architecture strategy to ensure seamless integration between ESS device hardware and cloud platforms.
  • Define device access standards and communication protocols suitable for unreliable and bandwidth-constrained networks.
  • Architect data consistency across distributed edge devices and cloud infrastructure, including fault tolerance and graceful degradation.
  • Establish hardware–software collaboration mechanisms: firmware update strategies, device diagnostics, OTA (over-the-air) upgrades, and device authentication.
  • Advocate for network-resilient designs to handle intermittent connectivity, geographic distribution challenges, and latency-sensitive operations.
  • Own edge computing strategy decisions: what should be computed on-device versus in the cloud, and why.
3) Product-Driven Technology Leadership
  • Work closely with product teams to understand customer pain points, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technology strategies with documented trade-offs.
  • Lead technical design reviews to evaluate architectural robustness and the potential for real user/customer value delivery.
  • Foster product thinking within engineering leadership; help engineers understand the business impact of technical decisions.
  • Champion data-driven technical decision-making, using customer feedback, usage metrics, and system telemetry to guide platform evolution.
  • Own roadmap prioritization: balance technical debt repayment, infrastructure investment, and feature delivery to maximize business value.
3. Key Performance Expectations
  • Product Definition: Deeply learn the business and define software products jointly with front-line business teams.
  • Product Delivery: Ensure core software products are delivered on time and with high quality.
  • Team Enablement & Building: Build a lean, high-performing team with a strong talent pipeline; increase talent density and lead the team effectively.
