Qualifications

• Translate Data + AI capabilities into professional services business outcomes, including client insight generation, knowledge management, and reusable AI-enabled service assets.

Overview

Join Microsoft as a Principal Data Solution Engineer based in Singapore, supporting strategic professional services customers across APAC. You will lead complex technical sales engagements that help customers modernize their data estates, establish governed analytics foundations, and build AI-ready platforms for secure, scalable production use.

This role is designed for candidates who understand professional services organizations, including Big 4, global systems integrators, consulting, advisory, audit, tax, legal, or related client-service environments. You will connect Microsoft's Data + AI capabilities to high-value scenarios such as client delivery, knowledge reuse, regulated data workflows, secure collaboration, productivity at scale, and AI-assisted service delivery.

The role requires deep Data + AI expertise, with working knowledge of application and agentic AI patterns needed to connect governed data platforms with intelligent applications, copilots, APIs, and production workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy for complex Data + AI opportunities across strategic APAC professional services accounts, orchestrating account teams, specialists, partners, engineering resources, and customer stakeholders from early technical decision through production adoption.

• Guide customers across modern data estate strategy, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure databases, OneLake, data warehousing, real-time analytics, governance, and data platform standardization.

• Design AI-ready data architectures that support Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Copilot scenarios, RAG, semantic search, data grounding, lineage, responsible AI, and production intelligent applications.

• Translate Data + AI capabilities into professional services business outcomes, including client insight generation, knowledge management, regulated workflow modernization, auditability, risk management, and reusable AI-enabled service assets.

• Help professional services organizations apply Data + AI both to their internal transformation and to reusable, Azure-based services and solutions they deliver to their own clients.

• Scale impact beyond individual engagements by developing reusable architectures, technical narratives, demonstrations, and industry patterns that can be applied across customers, countries, and professional services scenarios.

• Resolve technical blockers, influence customer architecture decisions, and provide product feedback to Microsoft engineering.

Technical Focus

• Deep expertise designing and positioning modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure databases, analytics, and Microsoft Purview, including data governance, security, real-time intelligence, and platform modernization.

• Experience designing AI-ready data architectures that support data grounding, RAG, semantic search, metadata, lineage, responsible AI controls, and secure production AI applications.

• Advanced customer-facing architecture expertise: data strategy, platform standardization, cloud-scale analytics, executive storytelling, technical objection handling, PoCs, MVPs, and production adoption planning.

• Working knowledge of application and agentic AI patterns, sufficient to connect governed data platforms with APIs, intelligent applications, copilots, and production workflows. Deep application-development specialization is not the primary focus of this role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, consulting, data architecture, analytics engineering, cloud architecture, data platform engineering, or AI solution architecture.

• Demonstrated expertise in modern data platforms, analytics architecture, governance, data modernization, and Data + AI solution design.

• Ability to engage enterprise customers and influence technical decision-makers across data, AI, application, platform, security, engineering, and business teams.

• Experience leading customer technical engagements such as PoCs, MVPs, architecture design sessions, hands‑on labs, workshops, or hackathons.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving or working within Big 4, global systems integrator, consulting, advisory, audit, tax, legal, or other professional services organizations, with an understanding of how these firms use Data + AI to transform internal operations and deliver reusable client-facing services.

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure databases, Purview, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, RAG patterns, and responsible AI practices.

• Experience connecting governed data platforms to intelligent applications, copilots, agentic workflows, APIs, and app modernization patterns.

• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Copilot, or AI-assisted engineering practices that improve data engineering and analytics delivery.

• Ability to shape customer strategy through technical leadership, storytelling, executive‑ready architecture narratives, and hands‑on execution.
