Job summary

Astek Singapore Innovation Technology Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Data Scientist to develop, evaluate, and improve NLP, Generative AI, and Machine Learning solutions.

You will work with product, engineering, and business teams to translate user needs into data-driven models suitable for production. The role focuses on building evaluation frameworks, experimenting with embeddings and language models, and ensuring responsible AI practices, privacy, and security while delivering reliable, scalable

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience in Data Science / Machine Learning, preferably involving NLP, Generative AI, Search, or Information Retrieval.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with working knowledge of SQL, data processing, version control, and software development practices.
• Good understanding of statistics, experimental design, model evaluation, validation, sampling, and error analysis.
• Experience working with unstructured text data and evaluating ML/Generative AI systems.
• Familiarity with embeddings, language models, prompt design, and model evaluation.
• Ability to develop maintainable code and collaborate with engineers to deploy solutions into production.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate NLP, Generative AI, and Machine Learning models for real-world use cases.
• Build evaluation frameworks and datasets to measure model accuracy, quality, reliability, latency, and cost.
• Conduct experiments, model validation, and error analysis to identify performance gaps and recommend improvements.
• Evaluate and apply appropriate AI models, techniques, embeddings, language models, and prompt strategies.
• Work with engineers to integrate validated models and improvements into production environments.
• Monitor model performance and establish automated and human evaluation methods.
• Ensure experiments, datasets, and model decisions align with Responsible AI, privacy, and security requirements.

Data Scientist – NLP / Generative AI

Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Scientist to develop, evaluate, and improve NLP, Generative AI, and Machine Learning solutions. Good to Have

• Experience with multilingual NLP, translation evaluation, or multilingual datasets.
• Knowledge of Chinese, Malay, or Tamil and Singapore's multilingual communications environment.
• Exposure to cloud AI services, vector search, MLOps, production monitoring, and Responsible AI.
• Experience delivering AI solutions within government, regulated, communications, or high-assurance environments.
