Job summary

Visa Hunt is seeking a Data Scientist (Geospatial) to join a forward-looking team in Singapore. You will architect and deploy ML solutions for forecasting education-demand, land-use analysis, and infrastructure planning.

You will collaborate with planners and engineers, work with Python, SQL, cloud platforms, and geospatial tools, and translate data into actionable policy insights for public-sector projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Geospatial Science, Mathematics, or related discipline.
• 3-5 years hands-on experience delivering ML solutions in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience with full ML lifecycle and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure); familiarity with GeoPandas, QGIS, PostGIS, or ArcGIS is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills; cross-functional collaboration preferred in Singapore planning datasets.

Responsibilities

• Partner with planners and analysts to identify long-term infrastructure and space-planning needs.
• Translate complex requirements into scalable analytical specifications and solutions.
• Perform exploratory analysis on spatial, demographic, housing, migration, land-use data to derive insights.
• Architect end-to-end ML solutions for geospatial analytics and education-demand forecasting.
• Establish data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, and model-serving frameworks for production use.
• Create, test, and operationalize predictive models and geospatial analytics in cloud environments.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and traceability.
• Leverage spatial regression, time-series forecasting, and ensemble or deep learning methods as needed.
• Assess model performance against observed outcomes and improve forecast accuracy.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders with cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Partner with planners, analysts, and business stakeholders to identify long-term infrastructure and space-planning needs.
• Convert complex operational requirements into clear analytical specifications and scalable technical solutions.
• Perform exploratory analysis on spatial, demographic, housing, migration, land-use, and accessibility datasets to uncover planning insights.
• Architect end-to-end machine learning solutions for geospatial analytics and education-demand forecasting.
• Establish reliable data pipelines, feature-engineering workflows, and model-serving frameworks that support production use.
• Create, test, and operationalise predictive models and geospatial analytics solutions within cloud-based environments.
• Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources while maintaining data quality, consistency, and traceability.
• Leverage spatial regression, time-series forecasting, agent-based modelling, ensemble methods, or deep learning based on project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Geospatial Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data science or a related field, including delivering machine learning solutions in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and data science frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Experience with the full machine learning lifecycle and cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure; familiarity with GeoPandas, QGIS, PostGIS, or ArcGIS is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in cross-functional teams; exposure to demographic modelling, urban planning, public-sector analytics, or Singapore planning datasets is preferred.
