Job summary

Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd is seeking a Data Engineer (Senior Associate) to design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions across cloud platforms. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to develop reliable data pipelines and enable data-driven insights.

The role focuses on ETL/ELT, data modelling, and governance, with hands-on experience in Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory, plus Python and SQL proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in data engineering, data integration, data warehousing, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Experience engaging stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Understanding of data modelling and cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in business analysis, including process documentation and requirements management.

The opportunity

We are seeking Data Engineers to design, develop, and optimize scalable data solutions across cloud platforms. Successful candidates will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to build reliable data pipelines, enable data-driven insights, and support enterprise data transformation initiatives.

Your key responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes across cloud data platforms.

Develop and optimize data models, transformations, and workflows using Python and SQL.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and reporting teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.

Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data engineering solutions.

Ensure data is structured and accessible for analytics, reporting, and downstream consumption.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Experience in data engineering, data integration, data warehousing, or related disciplines.

Hands-on experience withAzure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory (ADF).

Proficiency inPython and SQL.

Experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.

Experience engaging stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Understanding of data modelling and cloud-based data platforms.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in business analysis, including process documentation and requirements management.

Good to have:

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and/or Power BI.
• Experience working within Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
• Experience supporting or leading enterprise-scale data platform implementations.
• Experience mentoring team members or contributing to technical best practices.
