Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly disciplined Data Centre Operations Engineer to support mission-critical data centre facilities within a regulated financial institution. The ideal candidate will have solid operational expertise, hands-on facility management experience, and the ability to coordinate with multiple vendors and landlords while ensuring 24/7 operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Centre Operations & Facility Management
- Perform day-to-day data centre and computer room operations including key management, escorting vendors, environmental checks, degaussing, and routine facility inspections.
- Ensure full operational readiness and adherence to physical security and access control procedures.
- Demonstrate good knowledge and hands-on experience in data centre facility management, including oversight of power, cooling, fire suppression systems, and structured cabling.
- Conduct regular infrastructure walk-throughs and ensure that all equipment and facilities are functioning within required parameters.
- Critical Infrastructure Oversight
- Maintain deep understanding of critical infrastructure systems such as power distribution, UPS systems, CRAC/CRAH cooling units, fire suppression mechanisms, and overall environmental controls.
- Identify abnormalities, raise incidents promptly, and work with relevant teams to ensure remediation.
- Utilize DCIM systems to monitor data centre capacity, environmental status, and real-time performance metrics.
- Vendor & Landlord Management
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for data centre landlords, facility management teams, and external vendors.
- Manage and supervise all vendor activities within the data centre to ensure compliance with operational standards, security protocols, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance, equipment installations, audits, and incident-related visits.
- Ensure service providers adhere to SLAs, safety standards, and change management procedures.
- Incident, Problem & Change Management
- Escalate incidents promptly according to the organization’s incident response framework and track until closure.
- Follow ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
- Support post-incident analysis, root-cause investigations, and preventive action planning.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Generate operational and management reports, including incident summaries, facility health updates, and capacity utilization dashboards.
- Ensure accurate documentation of access logs, equipment inventory, audit evidence, and infrastructure diagrams.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or any related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of data centre operations experience, preferably in a financial institution.
- Excellent knowledge and practical experience in data centre facility management, including coordination with landlords and infrastructure vendors.
- Deep understanding of critical infrastructure systems: power distribution, UPS, cooling, and fire suppression.
- Experience working in a high-pressure environment with 24x7 on-call responsibilities.
- Good understanding of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel & PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
