Job summary

NHG Health is seeking a Data Architect to lead the enterprise data architecture strategy and governance for our healthcare cluster. The role focuses on Databricks Lakehouse design, data modeling, and cross-system integration to enable data-driven decision making.

You will guide data pipelines, governance, and security compliance while mentoring a team and collaborating with IT and clinical teams to drive value across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of data architecture experience.
• 5+ years of healthcare industry experience.
• Proven experience leading data engineering teams.
• Databricks Lakehouse, Spark, Python, and data modeling expertise.
• SQL and Data Warehousing with security/compliance focus.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap.
• Design scalable architecture for the Databricks Lakehouse environment.
• Establish data modeling standards and reference architectures; promote adoption.
• Guide data integration patterns across healthcare systems.

Job description

The Data Architect provides strategic leadership in designing and governing the enterprise data architecture that supports the cluster’s data-driven decision-making processes. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining the data architecture strategy, governance frameworks, and technical standards while ensuring seamless integration across healthcare systems through the Databricks Lakehouse environment. Working in close partnership with the Data Engineering Lead, this position ensures that data architecture decisions align with infrastructure capabilities and enterprise technology standards.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Strategy & Architecture

• Define and maintain enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap
• Design scalable architecture for the Databricks Lakehouse environment
• Establish data modeling standards and reference architectures; explore adoption across other healthcare clusters
• Guide data integration patterns across healthcare systems
• Drive data solutioning for new and existing use cases
• Evaluate new technologies and make strategic recommendations to leadership on what new technologies should be adopted
• Evaluate vendor-proposed / provided architectures, including validation of vendor deliverables against standards, and providing sign-offs on vendor solutions.

Data Governance & Quality

• Develop and implement enterprise-wide data governance framework that spans across different data platforms
• Establish and maintain data quality standards and monitoring approaches
• Define metadata management strategies
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
• Design data lineage and cataloguing solutions

Technical Implementation & Operations

• Guide implementation of data pipelines using Informatica IDMC and Spark
• Review and implement data operations best practices
• Monitor and optimise data workflow performance
• Lead team assigned resources as required
• Collaborate with Data Engineering Lead on infrastructure needs
• Mentor team members on best practices
• Drive knowledge sharing and documentation
• Lead committee(s) as and where required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 8+ years of data architecture experience
• 5+ years of healthcare industry experience
• Proven experience leading data engineering teams
• Technical skills in the following areas:
• Databricks Lakehouse Architectures
• Apache Spark and Python
• Data modeling and design
• SQL and Data Warehousing
• Data security and compliance frameworks
