Job description
What the role is:

The Smart Nation Group – Digital Government (SNDG), under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and administratively managed by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), plans and prioritizes key Smart Nation and digital government projects, raises the standards of Government ICT and services, builds long‑term capabilities for the public sector, and promotes adoption and participation in digital and smart innovations. It takes a whole‑of‑nation effort, and we will actively engage the public, the industry and fellow agencies as we build a Smart Nation together. The Governance team under the Technology and Capability Division is responsible for the formulation of technology policies that strike a delicate balance between driving digitalisation and ensuring security and resiliency of our digital systems. In doing so, you play a critical role towards enabling user‑centric and trusted digital service delivery and achieving our vision to be “digital to the core and serve with the heart”.

What you will be working on:

In this role, you will work closely with senior management, GovTech as well as other agencies and divisions to:

  • Drive and implement the Government’s strategy in delivering digital products that are resilient and secure by design while serving citizens’ needs.
  • Conceptualise and implement policies and initiatives that strengthen cybersecurity and resiliency of digital systems and services across whole‑of‑government.
  • Collaborate with GovTech to effect change management and build digital capabilities in response to new or revised technology policies.
  • Develop and maintain relevance of governance frameworks that support prompt and effective responses to ICT and data incidents.
What we are looking for:

We are looking for self‑motivated individuals who value integrity, teamwork and excellence. If you share our passion in shaping Singapore into a Smart Nation, we welcome you to join us!

An ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Preferably background in related domains such as technology policy, security, public policy or government affairs.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adept at developing a comprehensive understanding of issues quickly and generating innovative and practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage a wide spectrum of external and internal stakeholders, including multi‑agency and inter‑departmental teams.
  • Good appreciation of cybersecurity and tech trends (e.g. machine learning / AI) as well as their societal and regulatory implications.

Having the following job experience is advantageous:

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives, manage resources and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Developing policies and strategies within a large organisation or experience in consulting, a start‑up or other business environment.
  • Having presented recommendations to senior stakeholders and management.

An ideal candidate should possess the following personal traits:

  • Driven, possess strong sense of ownership of outcomes, and confidence to assess and express one’s own view on how to drive these outcomes, and identification with the Smart Nation Vision.
  • Analytical, with good critical thinking and an eye for details.
  • Curious, willing to build up digital capabilities and keep up with technological trends.
  • Being adept at prioritising and managing multiple workstreams.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic and fast‑paced environments.
