Job description

The Cybersecurity Network Engineer is responsible for a full lifecycle of network management and support, requiring expert technical knowledge and continuous operational engagement.

I. Design, Implementation, and Project Leadership
  • Network Architecture: Design, implement, and optimize network solutions across various industries and environments.
  • Deployment: Install and configure core network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN gateways, and wireless LAN controllers, to facilitate efficient communication and wireless access.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead high-priority network projects, such as Tech-Refresh initiatives, and participate in transition planning for new network and security systems.
  • Requirement Analysis: Evaluate user and organizational requirements by analyzing communication needs, software usage, and security concerns to suggest and deliver appropriate network protocol services.
II. Operations, Maintenance, and Optimization
  • Day-to-Day Management: Perform daily network and security operations, including managing routers, switches, and other network devices.
  • Maintenance & Upgrades: Schedule and perform network maintenance activities, including security configurations, patches, system upgrades, and hardware checks.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to optimize network efficiency and performance.
  • Capacity Planning: Provide timely and accurate reports on network capacity planning and analyze system resource utilization.
III. Security and Risk Management
  • Security Implementation: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • Vulnerability Control: Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability reviews on network infrastructure.
  • Incident Handling: Handle and resolve incidents related to cyber threats and data breaches.
IV. Troubleshooting and Support
  • Expert Support: Provide expert-level technical support and serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex enterprise network environments.
  • Incident Response: Respond to network incidents according to severity level and meet services level requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve critical network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining user productivity.
  • On-Call Duty: Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation (L2 standby support) and critical network escalations, ensuring timely response and adherence to SLA requirements.
V. Documentation and Collaboration
  • Documentation: Maintain and update network diagrams, configuration records, inventory, RMA records, and incident reports.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with third-party vendors, telecommunication operators, ISPs, and other service providers. Strong communication is crucial when working with many vendors and customers.

Education:

Diploma or Degree in a relevant field, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering being preferred.

Experience:

3+ years of experience in network engineering in medium to large organizations is specified for a senior role. Extensive experience in enterprise-level network design, implementation, and troubleshooting is sought. Starting as a Network Administrator is a common career path.

Technical Skills:

Expert knowledge of network technologies is essential, including routing, switching, firewalls, FTTH, SASE, and SD-WAN. Foundational knowledge of Cisco and Alcatel switches, routers, and wireless technologies is required.

Certifications:

Advanced certifications are preferred, such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet FCP/FCSS or NSE5,6,7 or 8 equivilent. Huawei HCIP/HCIE, NCE, or Aruba ACCP certifications. There is a commitment to continuous learning and obtaining required certifications to support customers and operational needs.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex network-related issues efficiently and creatively. Excellent communication and customer interaction skills, being adept at explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences (stakeholder management). Must be an adaptable team player capable of working independently.
