Job summary

HOYA Group in Singapore is seeking a skilled Edging & Mounting Technician to join our optical lab. You will precisely edge and mount prescription lenses into customer frames, and perform thorough quality checks before delivery.

You will operate edging, tracer, lensometer, and drilling machines, ensuring accurate lens power, center marks, and frame compatibility. The role demands 1 year of relevant experience, ability to work overtime, and a 5.5-day work week with fixed hours.

Qualifications

• Secondary education required.
• 1 year proven experience in edging & mounting.
• Optical experience is an advantage.
• Ability to stand for long hours and work OT when required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unpack lenses from the lens envelope and check condition.
• Check lenses with the lensometer for power accuracy and mark optical center/axis.
• Trace lens shape and size with the tracer machine.
• Edge lenses with the edging machine and mount on frames per orders.
• Operate drilling and grooving to meet Rimlon/Rimless specs.
• Retouch/chamfer lenses as needed and ensure proper fit.
• Quality check every job before delivery to customers.

Job description

The position is responsible for precisely edging and mounting prescription lenses into customer frames, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship. This role involves meticulous inspection of finished spectacles to guarantee they meet quality standards before delivery to customers.

Responsibilities

Edging & Mounting

• Receive and unpack lenses from the lens envelope, first check on the lenses condition.
• Checking lenses by using the lensometer to ensure the lens power is accurate and do marking for the optical center and axis according to the orders request.
• Perform tracer machine to trace on the spectacle frame/ lens to get the lens shape and size.
• Operate edging machine to edge the lenses into lens shape that required, and gently mounting it on customer’s frame.
• Operate drilling and grooving machine to fulfill Rimlon and Rimless frame requirements.
• Retouch or chamfer the lenses by machine/ hand edge when needed. E.g., lens oversize, transfer frame etc.
• Quality check for every job to ensure meets the company’s standard, before sending it out to customers.

Other

• Keep all the machine and accessories clean and put it in place.
• Perform machine maintenance and calibration on time.
• Keep the workplace (Edging room) clean and tidy.

Qualifications

Education: Secondary schools

Experience

• 1year proven experience in edging & mounting or relevant experience.
• Optical experience is an advantage.
