Position Overview

Details of the Division and Team:

The position is for a Credit Risk Officer role supporting Corporate and Investment Bank businesses covering APAC, based in Singapore.

This role has responsibility for independent risk management oversight for Credit Risk and embedding the Group's Risk Management Framework for that risk type within the Business Divisions and Infrastructure functions. They contribute to the setting of risk appetite for given risk type and monitor against it. They also independently assess risks for complex or significant transactions or other drivers / key controls and provide challenge and advisory at a senior level. They make decisions and approvals based on their allocated authority level and are a point of escalation for disputed assessments or decisions. Role responsibilities also include reviewing the effectiveness of current frameworks and methodologies as these are used and collaborates with others to improve and develop these.

Your key responsibilities
  • Senior Credit Officer responsible for reviewing, recommending, and approving complex/structured transactions covering leveraged finance, real estate, sponsor financing, equity loans, project finance.
  • Adherence to regulatory requirement including engagement with regulatory authorities, internal and external audit.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of underlying risks in Derivatives Markets, Trade Finance and Lending products.
  • Demonstrate a sound judgment of Risk / Return in arriving at credit decisions / recommendations to achieve the overall portfolio strategy and objectives of the bank.
  • Support business units in driving strategy to drive optimum risk / return and in line with overall portfolio strategy and risk appetite.
  • Maintain DB’s high underwriting standards and drive resolution with business units and key stakeholders.
  • Drive audit and regulatory agenda as required.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing transactions with responsibilities including monitoring counterparty performance by reviewing financial and operational reporting, confirming covenant compliance, and assessing industry trends.
  • Monitor and evaluate ratings on an ongoing basis, identify credit deterioration and make recommendations for watch list.
  • Produce annual credit & rating reviews, watch list reviews.
  • Assess new transactions, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Interface with Front Office on new deal screenings and assess credit risks related to operating environment, business strategy, financial profile and management. Provide preliminary views on ratings, risk appetite and compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Participate in due diligence by reviewing internal and independent financial, commercial and technical analysis and evaluating business plans, financial projections and models.
  • Review loan terms and documentation, assess compliance with underwriting standards, portfolio limits and other requirements.
  • Review credit memos, assess credit & repayment capacity, analyze valuations & liquidity.
  • Determine ratings, write and present credit recommendations to required approvers.
  • Collaborate with other areas within the Bank, including front office and support functions such as Market Risk, Regulatory and Advisory, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations.
  • Support business units in driving strategy to drive optimum risk / return and in line with overall portfolio strategy and risk appetite.
  • Perform portfolio reviews to ensure risk are proactively assessed and managed.
Your skills and experience
  • Minimum 6 years of credit risk experience in a Banking/Financial Institution.
  • Experience in regulatory work (interaction with regulatory authorities/ feedback on regulatory matters pertaining to banking/credit risk).
  • Understanding and analysis of Cashflow Projections, with focus on various scenarios (Base, Stressed etc.).
  • Technically strong, with a good understanding of global risk regulations.
  • Corporate and Financial Institution credit analysis skills with understanding of industry risk drivers; established negotiation skills to deal effectively with conflicting priorities & resources.
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally with divisional clients locally & globally, as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent qualification/relevant work experience. A related degree coupled with a Risk Management qualification.
