Our client is a consultancy firm specializing in marine and energy sectors. As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking a Country Manager for Singapore to lead their local operations. This role is ideal for a strategic, results-driven leader who excels in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about business development and team leadership.

Responsibilities

As the Country Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing business strategies to foster growth in Singapore. You will oversee daily operations, ensure the delivery of high-quality projects, and maintain strong financial and commercial performance. Building and maintaining relationships internally and externally will be key to ensuring success across technical delivery, client satisfaction, and commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading strategic planning and execution for the Singapore operations with clear growth targets.
  • Monitoring industry trends and identifying new market opportunities.
  • Providing leadership and motivation to technical, operational, and administrative teams.
  • Supporting team development through mentoring, training, and performance management.
  • Optimizing resource allocation and project delivery to meet business objectives.
  • Managing the Singapore P&L, including budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Enhancing cash flow by minimizing outstanding bills and overdue payments.
  • Streamlining processes to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Driving business development activities, including proposal writing and contract management.
  • Collaborating with global and regional teams to explore cross-border opportunities.
  • Representing the company at client meetings, industry events, and forums.
  • Overseeing ongoing and upcoming projects, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Providing consultancy expertise in marine and offshore sectors when necessary.
  • Supporting global vessel inspections and project attendances as required.
  • Allocating approximately 70% of time to business development and revenue-generating projects annually.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as needed.

This position is based in Singapore, with flexible working hours. The company is open to applications from outside Singapore and may consider relocation for the ideal candidate.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the vision to lead, the drive to expand the business, and the technical and commercial expertise to make an immediate impact. Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills are essential.

Ideal Profile:

  • A Master Mariner (STCW II/2), Chief Engineer (STCW III/2), or a relevant technical degree (e.g., Naval Architecture, Structural or Civil Engineering).
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably in marine or offshore sectors.
  • Practical experience with marine operations, vessel inspections, or offshore consultancy.
  • Proven success in managing teams and executing business or project plans.
  • Knowledge of the offshore oil & gas industry and marine engineering consultancy.
  • A strategic mindset with strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Solid understanding of commercial and financial principles, including legal basics.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.
  • Confidence in negotiations and developing new business relationships.
  • Energetic, organized, proactive, and a strong leader.
  • Adaptable, innovative, and comfortable with change.
