Job summary

A food establishment in Singapore is seeking a dedicated Cook to join their team specializing in Chinese cuisine. The ideal candidate will prepare and cook a variety of dishes, ensure food quality, and uphold safety standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Experience in Chinese cuisine and communication in Mandarin are preferred. This role involves working 6 days a week with extended hours.

Qualifications

  • Prior cooking experience in Chinese cuisine (zichar / mixed rice) preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to work extended hours typical of F&B operations.
  • Able to communicate in Mandarin for interaction with colleagues and suppliers.

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our team, specialising in Chinese cuisine for our Zichar and Mixed Rice stalls. The role requires someone who can work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment, prepare quality dishes consistently, and uphold food safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook Chinese dishes (zichar / mixed rice) according to recipes and customer orders
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met
  • Support daily preparation of ingredients, sauces, and condiments
  • Manage food storage, stock rotation, and minimise wastage
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, in line with SFA regulations
  • Assist in receiving and checking deliveries of supplies
  • Work with the Head Chef / Kitchen Supervisor to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Cooperate with other kitchen staff for efficient service flow
Requirements
  • Prior cooking experience in Chinese cuisine (zichar / mixed rice) preferred
  • Willing to work 6 days per week, with 1 rest day on a weekday
  • Physically fit and able to work extended hours typical of F&B operations
  • Able to communicate in Mandarin, as the role requires regular interaction with Mandarin-speaking colleagues and suppliers
Skillset
  • Strong cooking techniques in Chinese cuisine (stir-fry, steaming, deep-frying, braising, etc.)
  • Good knife skills and ingredient preparation
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and SFA regulations
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure during peak hours
  • Teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff
  • Time management and organisational skills for efficient workflow
