Key Responsibilities
- Define experiment requirements and ensure alignment with internal standards and project goals.
- Design, schedule, and execute small-scale laboratory studies, coordinating closely with cross‑functional teams.
- Allocate and plan resources needed for experiments together with the team lead and supporting functions.
- Troubleshoot issues during experimental set‑up and runs, proposing solutions and preventive measures.
- Guide and support junior engineers in conducting experiments and understanding lab processes.
- Coordinate analytical testing needs with internal and external teams.
- Prepare, review, and update lab documentation such as procedures, protocols, forms, and reports.
- Analyse, summarise, and approve experimental results.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as required.
- Lead the introduction of new technologies, lab equipment, and process improvements in the small‑scale lab.
- Drive 5S/6S activities and ensure proper housekeeping in the laboratory.
- Manage consumables, raw materials, and inventory needed for experiments.
- Support global lab initiatives and align local practices with global strategies.
- Participate in EHS walkdowns and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
- Uphold EHS standards and adhere to ethical and professional conduct.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemical engineering or related discipline with ~6 years’ experience, or a Master’s degree with ~4 years’ experience.
- Hands‑on experience in upstream cell culture and/or downstream purification at small scale.
- Experience with scale‑down models, DOE, and laboratory troubleshooting.
- Prior exposure to process development is advantageous.
