About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program, and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

About the position

This part‑time position has supporting role in the Consular and Passport Section at the Australian High Commission in Singapore.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing a range of passport services to Australian citizens in accordance with the Australian Passport Act, including client interviews, processing applications, financial transactions, providing advice and guidance to clients regarding Passport matters.
  • Providing a range of consular services and assist Australian citizens in line with the Consular Services Charter.
  • Under limited guidance, providing timely advice and reporting on consular and passport cases, including the drafting of correspondence and liaising with key stakeholders such as Consular Operations DFAT.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with a culturally diverse range of organisations and individuals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English to effectively serve a large English‑speaking clientele.
