Overview
As a Micron Singapore Ultra Pure Water & Waste Water Treatment Engineer, you are responsible for the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of UPW and wastewater treatment systems for semiconductor manufacturing facilities. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality water systems while meeting stringent environmental, safety, and operational standards. The Engineer will work with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and oversee the implementation of these critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering Oversight: Lead the design and engineering of UPW and wastewater systems, ensuring compliance with semiconductor manufacturing requirements and industry standards. Review and approve technical specifications, layouts, and drawings for system components, including filtration, deionization, and wastewater treatment units. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of UPW and wastewater systems with the facility’s overall infrastructure. Evaluate emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve system performance and sustainability.
- Construction & Installation Management: Oversee the installation and construction of UPW and wastewater systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery and proper installation of system components. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify challenges, and implement corrective actions. Manage commissioning and startup activities, ensuring systems are fully operational and meet performance requirements.
- System Performance & Optimization: Establish performance metrics for UPW and wastewater systems and monitor their operation during and after commissioning. Identify and address inefficiencies or performance issues in system design or operation. Conduct root cause analysis of system failures and implement corrective actions to enhance reliability and efficiency. Develop strategies for water recycling and reuse to support sustainability goals.
- Safety, Compliance, & Environmental Management: Ensure all UPW and wastewater systems comply with local, national, and international environmental regulations and industry standards. Implement safety protocols for high-risk activities, such as handling hazardous chemicals used in water treatment processes. Maintain environmental compliance by managing the discharge of treated wastewater and ensuring adherence to effluent quality standards. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for system design and construction phases.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting: Act as the primary point of contact for UPW and wastewater systems, coordinating with end user, project teams, and regulatory bodies. Prepare and present progress reports, system performance data, and recommendations to stakeholders. Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure UPW and wastewater systems meet overall project objectives. Address client feedback and ensure timely resolution of concerns related to system design or operation.
- Team Leadership & Resource Management: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and contractors working on UPW and wastewater systems. Develop and implement training programs to enhance team expertise in water treatment technologies and system operation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in UPW and wastewater systems, with at least 3 years in a Waste water treatment role, preferably within semiconductor or high-tech industrial construction.
- Skills: Proficiency in water treatment design software and tools, strong leadership and project management skills, and a deep understanding of semiconductor water quality requirements.
