RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Community Worker, your role is to identify assets and mobilize them to contribute to or drive community initiatives that proactively address systemic social issues like poverty.

Operating from an asset-based framework, you will facilitate and co-create initiatives with community assets and other community stakeholders, ensuring the initiatives are community-owned and sustainable.

Facilitating & Co-Creating Community Initiatives:
  • Facilitate discussions with community assets & stakeholders, utilizing collaborative approaches such as Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), with the aim to empower community assets to drive community initiatives.
  • Support in the co-creation of community initiatives by providing inputs and recommendations, such as program consideration and resource allocation.
  • Design and deliver trainings relevant for community initiative implementation for diverse stakeholders, including community assets, volunteers, partners, and internal staff.
Community Planning & Research:
  • Conduct needs and asset assessments through detailed environmental scans (e.g., social data collation, surveys, interviews, community mapping, analysis of social trends) to inform strategy.
  • Identify and document formal and informal community assets and resources, utilizing an asset-based framework to drive initiatives.
  • Evaluate the efficacy of community-based programs and engagement initiatives, providing evidence-based recommendations for continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Management & Engagement:
  • Lead engagement efforts to facilitate and build stakeholder co-ownership and co-creation of community platforms and initiatives.
  • Match and mobilize stakeholders and their assets to contribute to community efforts.
  • Coordinate external partnerships with key volunteers and resource persons.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 1 year working experience in social service setting.
  • Experience with planning/organizing community or volunteer events.
  • Community Centric and believes in the power of community.
  • Possess understanding of community-based organizations, and knowledge of working with groups.
  • High adaptable, and comfortable working with evolving conditions.
  • Good interpersonal and team management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
