Overview
We are seeking a Communications Executive to manage media relations, create impactful content, and lead key communication projects. Responsibilities
Media Relations
- Act as the main point of contact for all media inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional response.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and statements that effectively communicate organisational milestones and initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets to proactively pitch stories and secure positive coverage.
- Monitor media coverage, track sentiment, and prepare reports to inform strategy and highlight impact.
Corporate Content Creation
- Develop engaging content for a wide range of platforms, including websites, newsletters, social media, annual reports, and speeches
- Ensure all content reflects the organisation’s mission, values, and voice while maintaining consistency across channels
- Translate complex information into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with stakeholders, donors, and the public
- Collaborate with internal teams to source stories and highlight organisational achievements through impactful storytelling
Project Management
- Oversee and coordinate communications projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deliverables meet quality and branding standards
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, while aligning stakeholders on objectives and progress.
- Liaise with internal departments, external partners, and vendors to deliver campaigns, events, and publications smoothly
- Anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope
Strategic Support
- Assist in developing and executing communications strategies that align with organisational priorities and enhance reputation
- Identify opportunities to strengthen visibility and awareness of the organisation’s mission and impact.
- Provide strategic input and support to leadership in speeches, presentations, and thought leadership initiatives
- Analyse results of communication efforts to refine strategies and improve future outcomes
Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs (Experience in the non-profit or social service is a plus)
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills across multiple formats and platforms
- Familiarity with media relations and demonstrated ability to secure media coverage.
- Proficiency in digital communications, including managing website, social media, and newsletters.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about the organisation’s mission and able to convey it with authenticity and impact
Applicants without the relevant academic qualifications but with substantial related work experience will also be considered.
