Job summary

A marine and offshore services company based in Singapore is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the commissioning of electrical systems on marine projects. The successful candidate will have over 5 years of relevant experience and will be responsible for inspecting installations, conducting tests, and collaborating with other trades. Job description
Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the electrical commissioning of marine and offshore systems, ensuring installations and operations meet design specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and work with electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment manuals.
  • Perform visual inspections of electrical installations for compliance with project standards.
  • Carry out continuity, insulation resistance (Megger), and earth bond testing on cables and equipment.
  • Assist in start-up pre-checks, line walks, and punch list generation and clearance on marine E&I systems including ICSS, FGS, communications, lighting, telecom, MV/LV circuits.
  • Conduct loop checks, functional tests, and operational verification of electrical systems.
  • Perform load, short circuit, and protection relay testing where required.
  • Coordinate with other trades (mechanical, piping, E&I) for pre-commissioning activities.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults and non-conformities.
  • Undertake shift-based watchkeeping to monitor marine mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Accurately document test results, readings, and observations.
  • Support the preparation of handover and close-out documentation as needed.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Certificate in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marine/offshore commissioning or electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of marine E&I systems and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and manuals.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English and Chinese to liaise with Chinese-speaking clients and counterparts.
  • Familiarity with international standards (e.g., IEC, IMO) is an advantage.
  • Willing to work in offshore/yard environments and perform shift duties.
