A leading environmental services company in Singapore seeks a Commercial Manager to oversee contract management for hazardous waste services. Candidates should have 5-8 years of experience in contract management, preferably in related sectors, with strong negotiation and analytical skills. The role involves collaboration with multiple teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risks, and is offered full-time with no remote work options.
Join Veolia Singapore as a Commercial Manager and become a key partner at the heart of our operations. This goes beyond a standard contract administration role; you will be the commercial guardian for our crucial hazardous waste treatment and disposal services business. You will also provide expert contract management for a variety of high-value procurement contracts essential to our business and projects across Singapore.
In this position you will work closely with our sales legal finance and operations teams to help grow our business mitigate risk and maximise profitability. Contract Lifecycle Management: Provide expert support throughout all contract stages including initial business development engagement, tender execution, renewal, warranty and close-out.
Risk & Opportunity Management: Support in structuring/developing new commercial offers. Proactively identify, analyze and manage contractual risks and opportunities within the appropriate commercial framework. Develop and implement mitigation strategies and maintain a comprehensive risk/opportunity register.
Contract Administration: Establish and manage tools for tracking contractual obligations, rights, deliverables and key dates to ensure timely compliance and execution.
Drafting & Negotiation: In collaboration with the sales operations and legal departments, assist in assessing contractual setups and drafting, reviewing and negotiating contract terms.
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual correspondence. Draft and review communications with clients, partners, and subcontractors.
Performance Monitoring: Track contract performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage any resulting penalties, deductions or liquidated damages.
Claim Management: Prepare and respond to contractual claims ensuring all necessary documentation is meticulously maintained to support the company’s position.
Collaboration: Liaise effectively with Legal, Finance, Insurance and Procurement departments to ensure a cohesive approach to contract management.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all contractual documentation is properly stored and contribute to lessons learned reports to drive continuous improvement.
Proven 5-8 years experience in a dedicated contract management or commercial role. Prior experience in environmental services, hazardous waste management, oil & gas, construction, engineering or industrial operations is highly advantageous.
A degree in Law, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of contract law, claims management and risk analysis.
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a keen eye for detail. Good proficiency in written English.
Proficient in managing stakeholder relationships and working collaboratively in a team, with experience in budget analysis and invoice review.
Willingness to learn and understand the technical aspects of underlying operations required to support the role.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and synthesis skills.
