MTC Consulting Pte. Ltd. is hiring a Coldroom/Reefer Technician in Singapore to install, commission, service and repair cold rooms and reefer containers, ensuring the cold chain remains uninterrupted.

The role covers installing insulated panels, refrigeration equipment, wiring, testing and commissioning, preventative maintenance, diagnosing faults, and preparing service reports for clients.

Competenze

• NITEC or equivalent hands-on experience required.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and electrical wiring.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and P&IDs.

Mansioni

• Install cold room panels, doors, refrigeration equipment, piping, wiring, and controls per drawings.
• Install and set up compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves in designated locations.
• Perform pressure tests, vacuum, refrigerant charging, and system start-up.
• Program temperature controllers to design setpoints and verify alarms.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on cold rooms and systems.
• Troubleshoot faults in mechanical, electrical, and controls.
• Detect and repair refrigerant leaks.
• Diagnose reefer unit malfunctions including controller alarms.

Coldroom/Reefer Technician

About the role

To install, commission, service, and repair cold rooms and refrigerated (reefer) containers to a standard that keeps our clients' cold chains running without interruption.

• Salary | $3,000 to $4,000, depends on experience.

• Work Details | Monday to Friday. 9am to 6pm. Saturday, 9am to 1pm.

• Location | Jurong East

• Variable Bonus, depends on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install cold room insulated panels, doors, refrigeration equipment, piping, electrical wiring, and control systems in accordance with drawings, method statements, and project specifications.

• Install and set up compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, control valves, and associated components in specified locations.

• Carry out pressure testing, vacuum, refrigerant charging, and system start-up.

• Configure and program temperature controllers (e.g. Carel, Eliwell, Dixell) to design setpoints, and verify alarm and defrost functions.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on cold rooms and refrigeration systems in line with maintenance checklists and contract requirements.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls faults; diagnose root causes and carry out rectification.

• Detect and repair refrigerant leaks; top up refrigerant only after the leak has been identified and rectified.

• Diagnose and rectify reefer container malfunctions, including controller alarms, sensor faults, refrigeration circuit issues, and electrical faults.

• Perform pre-trip inspections (PTI), repairs, and preventive maintenance on reefer units of major makes (e.g. Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin, Star Cool).

• Prepare accurate service reports after every job and obtain the customer's endorsement before leaving site.

About you

• NITEC in Refrigeration Technology / Facility Technology (Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration) / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration or reefer servicing.

• Sound knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical wiring, and mechanical works; able to read wiring diagrams and P&IDs.

• Able to communicate in English (spoken and written) sufficient for service reports and client interaction.

• Physically fit for the demands of the job: heavy lifting, climbing, working at height, and working in cold (sub-zero) and outdoor environments.

• Willing to perform rostered standby duty and respond to after-hours breakdown calls.

• Experience with reefer containers, including PTI procedures and port/depot operations (advantageous).

• Experience with CO₂ transcritical or other natural-refrigerant systems or glycol systems (advantageous).

• Certification in refrigerant handling, work-at-height, scissor lift, or forklift operation (advantageous).

• Class 3 driving licence (advantageous).
