Overview
Position Summary: The Project Engineer (Mechanical & Civil) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering and construction activities related to mechanical and civil works. The role ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and in compliance with quality standards and client specifications.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Coordination
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, and budgets for mechanical and civil works.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and internal departments to align project objectives.
- Assist in tender preparation, technical evaluations, and cost estimation.
- Prepare method statements, work procedures, and progress reports.
2. Engineering and Design Support
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Provide engineering input for design reviews, constructability, and technical clarifications.
- Coordinate between civil and mechanical disciplines to ensure design integration and site compatibility.
- Support in material selection, procurement, and equipment specification.
- Support the preparation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) in accordance with relevant codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
3. Site Supervision and Execution
- Supervise site construction and installation activities for both mechanical and civil scopes.
- Ensure all works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Work closely with site supervisor and personnel in-charge to ensure mechanical & civil accordance to drawing and standards.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, progress, and quality compliance.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning as required.
4. Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Enforce adherence to company and client safety policies (e.g., PTW, risk assessment, lifting plan, work at height, confined space etc).
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (ASME, API, BS, Eurocode, etc.).
- Coordinate QA/QC inspections and manage non-conformance reports.
5. Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare project progress reports, manpower plans, and site updates.
- Maintain proper documentation for drawings, test reports, and as-built records.
- Track project variations and assist in change order submissions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 3–8 years of relevant experience in project execution (preferably in oil & gas, construction, or industrial sectors).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (piping, pressure vessels, rotating/static equipment) and civil works (structural, foundation, concrete, and steelwork).
- Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera) and AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of engineering codes and standards.
- Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
