Job summary

A leading construction firm in Singapore is seeking a Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering and at least 5 years of experience, especially in waterworks. This role involves guiding engineering teams, ensuring compliance with design standards, and maintaining efficient design management processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong soft skills to manage design and construction coordination effectively.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of Civil and Structural experience in waterworks is a plus.
  • Efficiency in design/construction coordination required.

Responsibilities

  • Guide Engineers and collaborate with Design Manager on design requests.
  • Develop and maintain design management tools for tracking progress.
  • Identify and mitigate design delays proactively.
  • Verify designs meet Client’s specifications under the contract.

Job description
Job Scope:
  • Guide Engineers and work together with Design Manager on design requests
  • Act as information provider about engineering design aspects; develop productive and respectful relationships with the site operations team and provide assurance of as-built temporary works construction; convey key temporary works design expectations to the Responsible Site Persons; be mindful and aware of changes in site conditions and raise temporary works design change requests to the Designer when appropriate.
  • Driving required actions by liaising with the site operations team and managing the Engineer’s and other third-party expectations under the Contract with respect to the clients’ requirements
  • Take care of the Architectural aspect of the Construction works.
  • Develop and maintain design management tools for tracking, reporting and monitoring the progress and delivery of design packages.
  • Identify design delays at the earliest stage, investigate causes and proactively seek to mitigate delays to mitigate any adverse impacts on procurement, fabrication and construction.
  • Verify permanent works designs to meet Client’s specifications under the contract for Contractor’s permanent works designs and liaising with the Client/Engineer and external interested parties for their comments, where applicable.
  • Monitor progress of work, check design for completion and efficiency, review design calculations
  • Guide team to correct / modify design, as required
  • Review all drawings (self and team) for adherence with CAD standards and Leighton’s operating procedures
  • Guide team to file designs / drawings, maintain record of delivery and timesheets for development and delivery schedule
  • Guide team to resolve instances of non-compliances
  • Proactively identify and correct non-compliance in temporary works construction on site. Drive the process for issuance of design change requests when appropriate. Use soft skills to positively encourage temporary works compliance with the site operations team
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5 years of Civil and Structural experience in waterworks is a plus
  • Knowledge of Civil and Structural engineering and design, temporary works design and Architectural work
  • Knowledge of soft skills to facilitate and ensure timely delivery of design and construction coordination
  • Efficiency in design/construction coordination
