Job summary

Halex Construction Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Civil Engineer/Senior Engineer to join our Singapore-based marine civil engineering team.

You will work hands-on on land reclamation, shore protection and other marine projects, learning from experienced project leaders and taking on more responsibility as you grow. You will review drawings and specifications, set out works, supervise quality, and resolve on-site technical issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering registrable with BCA/PEB or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of site experience in construction, reclamation or marine works.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work on site, outdoors, marine or coastal environments.
• Ability to interact with Mandarin-speaking clients and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and method statements to create clear, buildable site plans.
• Set out and check works: levels, alignments, quantities and tolerances for earthworks, rock works and marine structures.
• Supervise quality on site with inspections and records to meet specifications.
• Resolve on-site technical issues such as temporary works, sequencing and weather constraints.
• Own a work package from planning to completion with safety, quality, time and cost accountability.
• Prepare and update programmes, track progress, and flag schedule risks.
• Quantify work, support progress claims and variation records with the QS.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and marine plant to ensure readiness and growth of junior staff.
• Apply health, safety and environmental requirements on site and participate in risk assessments.

The opportunity

Halex Construction is a Singapore-based marine civil engineering company specialising in land reclamation, shore protection, dredging and marine works. We are hiring Civil Engineer/ Senior Engineer to join our exiting industry!

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will work on civil marine projects, learn from experienced project leaders, and take on more responsibility as you grow.

What you will do

Engineer the works

• Review drawings, specifications and method statements, and turn them into clear, buildable work plans for the site team.
• Set out and check the works: levels, alignments, quantities and tolerances for earthworks, rock works and marine structures.
• Supervise the quality of work on site, including inspections, material tests and records, so that it meets the specification and the client’s requirements.
• Solve technical problems on site, such as temporary works, sequencing, and weather and tidal constraints, and recommend practical options.

Plan andcontrol

• Own a work package or work front from planning to completion, and be accountable for its safety, quality, time and cost.
• Prepare and update programmes, and track progress against them, with early warning when the schedule is at risk.
• Measure and check quantities, support progress claims and variation records with the QS, and keep cost under control.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and marine plant and equipment so that each work front is ready when needed, and guide junior engineers and supervisors as your experience grows.

Keep it safe and compliant

• Apply our health, safety and environmental requirements on site, take part in risk assessments and toolbox talks, and act on unsafe conditions immediately.
• Prepare technical submissions, RFIs, test reports and as-built records, and support the Project Manager in liaison with clients, consultants and authorities.

What you bring

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering that is registrable with BCA as a Registerable Professional (RP), recognised by PEB or BCA.
• At least 3 years of site experience in construction, reclamation or marine works. Fresh graduates with a strong interest in marine and site work are welcome to apply.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work on site, including outdoors and on marine orcoastal sites.
• Working Mandarin, to deal with our Mandarin-speaking clientsand subcontractors.
