Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chinese Language Teacher to join our team. The teacher will be responsible for curriculum planning, lesson delivery, and fostering a positive learning environment for a diverse range of learners. This role requires familiarity with international and standardized Chinese language programmes (YCT, HSK, IB) as well as experience teaching both children and adults.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Planning & Development

  • Design and implement engaging Mandarin language curricula for different age groups and proficiency levels.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with YCT (Youth Chinese Test), HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), and IB (International Baccalaureate) language frameworks.
  • Adapt teaching approaches for adult Mandarin classes and corporate training needs.
  • Integrate interactive and experiential methods, including role play, games, cultural activities, and digital resources.

Teaching & Facilitation

  • Teach Mandarin classes to children, teens, and adults at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Prepare students for YCT and HSK examinations, as well as Mandarin within IB curricula.
  • Facilitate conversational practice, reading comprehension, writing skills, and cultural appreciation.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to learners and parents (for children).

Student Support & Engagement

  • Motivate and inspire learners by creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and track individual progress, tailoring lessons to meet different learning styles and abilities.
  • Provide resources and strategies for continued learning outside of the classroom.

Professional Contributions

  • Stay updated with the latest Chinese language teaching methodologies, IB requirements, and MOE/ international standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum refinement, assessments, and cross-cultural enrichment activities.
  • Participate in school/community events, open houses, and cultural workshops when required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification in Chinese as a Foreign Language (preferred).
  • Proven experience in teaching YCT, HSK, IB Mandarin, and adult learners.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design creative and interactive lesson plans.
  • Passion for nurturing language learning and cultural appreciation.
