Job Description & Requirements
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing the operational, compliance, and administrative functions of the asset management firm. This role supports the CEO and investment team in ensuring efficient operations, strong governance, regulatory compliance, and effective execution of the firm’s strategic objectives. The COO leads firm-wide operations, manages internal controls, and partners with external service providers to maintain high standards of operational integrity.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, enhance operational policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Manage resources, processes, and systems required to support front, middle, and back-office functions.
- Oversee consolidated financial reporting, including cash flow monitoring, asset summaries, and expense tracking.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, regulatory filings, and compliance reporting.
- Support investment reporting by consolidating data from investment managers and custodians.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, risk‑management frameworks, and compliance processes.
- Ensure the firm complies with MAS regulations, including requirements related to fund management, licensing, reporting, and client onboarding.
- Oversee compliance frameworks and risk‑management policies, including AML/KYC, trade monitoring, and conflict‑of‑interest procedures.
- Oversee operational KPIs, cost management, budgeting processes, and financial reporting.
- Work with finance teams and external fund administrators to ensure accurate NAV calculations, reconciliations, and operational reporting.
- Manage operational integrations with custodians, brokers, and service providers.
- Manage relationships with fund administrators, custodians, brokers, legal advisors, auditors, and technology vendors.
- Work with senior management to translate strategic objectives into operational initiatives.
- Provide leadership to operations, compliance, and administrative teams.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable work culture in line with the firm’s values.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in operations, compliance, finance, or management within an asset management, fund management, or financial services environment.
- Experience managing cross‑functional operations and working with external financial service providers.
- Strong operational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and communicate effectively.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to good governance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
