A manufacturing company in Singapore seeks a Chemical Technician for its TPU Plant in Jurong Island. The role involves operating and monitoring the TPU extrusion process, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring quality control. Candidates should hold a diploma in Chemical Process Technology or related fields and have at least 2 years of experience in a similar environment. Shift work is required, and applicants with no prior experience may also apply.
Operate and monitor the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) extrusion process and related production activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Set up, start, stop, and troubleshoot the extruder and associated equipment.
Perform routine patrols of the plant to monitor process conditions and equipment performance.
Collect and analyze samples to evaluate TPU product quality and process parameters.
Promptly report any abnormalities in the extrusion process, process deviations, equipment malfunctions, environmental issues, incidents, or near-misses. Participate in investigations when required.
Support daily maintenance coordination and assist in planned maintenance activities, including shutdowns and start-ups.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on extrusion efficiency, equipment performance, and product quality.
Assist in the training of new technicians.
Serve as an active member of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Perform scheduled housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Ensure proper handover and takeover during shift changes.
Any other duties as and when required to be done by superior.
Diploma or NITEC in Chemical Process Technology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Minimum 2 years' working experience in chemical or polymer manufacturing plant preferred.
Experience operating polymerization and extrusion unit with automated control systems is highly desirable.
Basic knowledge of chemical processes, maintenance practices, and analytical procedures.
An effective team player with good communication and problem solving skills.
Willing and able to work on 12-hour rotating shift on Jurong Island.
