Responsibilities

Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, measuring spices, and marinating meats.

Follow recipes and instructions to help cook dishes under the direction of chefs or cooks.

Cleaning and Sanitizing
  • Keep kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment clean and sanitized.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils.
  • Ensure the kitchen area is organized and free from hazards.
Stock Management
  • Help with inventory management, including receiving, storing, and rotating stock.
  • Keep track of supplies and alert the kitchen manager when items are running low.
Food Safety
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling, cooking, and storage of food.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen to prevent contamination.
Assisting Other Staff
  • Support chefs and cooks by providing them with necessary tools and ingredients.
  • Assist with plating and garnishing dishes as needed.
Equipment Operation
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, and food processors.
  • Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate person.
