Job description
Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Development Manager with over 10 years of progressive, multi-disciplinary experience across plumbing, glass works, construction, and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) industries. This senior leadership role demands a versatile professional capable of driving business growth, overseeing complex project execution, and managing diverse workforce operations—both on-site and off-site—to ensure operational excellence and sustainable development.

Scope of Role

Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives targeting niche markets within plumbing, glass fabrication, construction, and M&E sectors, focusing on client acquisition, competitive tendering, and long-term partnership cultivation.

Lead commercial management including detailed budgeting, cost control, contract compliance, and invoice validation, collaborating closely with technical teams to optimize project profitability.

Maintain a proactive on-site presence, regularly attending site meetings, conducting quality and safety inspections, and ensuring seamless alignment of operational activities with corporate and regulatory standards.

Facilitate communication and coordination among a multi-national workforce drawn from diverse cultural backgrounds, addressing operational and interpersonal challenges to maximize compliance, productivity, and workforce harmony.

Ensure smooth operational support by coordinating resource allocation, statutory adherence, and workflow management, fostering seamless collaboration between site and office functions.

Manage vendor, subcontractor, and supplier relationships with robust negotiation, delivery monitoring, and quality assurance mechanisms to guarantee high standards and timely execution.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project engineers, quantity surveyors, procurement, and finance to align commercial and operational objectives effectively.

Prepare and present comprehensive management reports, incorporating key performance indicators, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations for senior management decision-making.

Navigate complex project environments with agility, balancing commercial priorities, workforce dynamics, and on-site execution challenges inherent to the plumbing, glass works, construction, and M&E industries.

Candidate Requirements

Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 10 years in multi-disciplinary roles within plumbing, glass works, construction, or Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) industries, demonstrating proven expertise in business development, project supervision, commercial management, and multi-cultural workforce coordination.

Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse teams in dynamic on-site environments, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory frameworks specific to construction and M&E projects.

Strong strategic and operational acumen with hands‑on involvement in site management and business growth initiatives.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage complex relationships locally and internationally.

High professionalism, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure and tight deadlines.

Important Note

This role demands a rare combination of technical depth, commercial insight, and operational leadership. While a Bachelor of Engineering degree (any discipline) is a baseline qualification, only candidates with extensive, relevant, and demonstrable experience across plumbing, glass works, construction, and M&E sectors will be considered. This position is not suitable for fresh graduates or specialists seeking narrowly focused roles. The demanding scope and seniority level ensure that this role is intended for highly experienced professionals ready to lead complex, integrated functions across multiple industries.
