Business Development Manager
Reports to Managing Director, this role will own revenue growth in the medical device & equipment manufacturing segment by acquiring new OEM/contract manufacturing customers and expanding strategic accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Market & Account Strategy – Build and execute territory plans for medical device/equipment OEMs, EMS/CMs, and instrument makers; map key buying centers (sourcing, QA/RA, engineering, operations) and develop multi‑threaded relationships.
- Pipeline Creation – Source qualified opportunities via targeted outreach, industry events, referrals, and digital channels.
- Commercial Negotiation – Negotiate terms (pricing, MOQs, lead‑times, confidentiality/IP, quality clauses) to achieve margin and risk thresholds.
- Account Growth & Retention – Expand wallet share via upsell/cross‑sell (materials, secondary processes, assemblies), and secure multi‑year agreements.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership – Run deal reviews, red‑team proposals, and win‑loss analyses; create feedback loops to Engineering/Operations for continuous improvement.
- Brand & Thought Leadership – Represent Cragar at med‑tech events; and capability spotlights collaboratively with Marketing.
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- 5 to 8 years in B2B business development within medical device/equipment manufacturing (OEM, contract manufacturing, precision components, instruments).
- Strong working knowledge of ISO13485, QMS requirements and their impact on supplier controls, documentation, and change management.
- Hands‑on manufacturing exposure: in CNC machining (milling/turning), surface finishing (e.g., passivation/anodizing/electropolishing), assembly, and metrology; able to read drawings and GD&T and discuss process capability (Cp/Cpk) credibly.
- Proven success managing RFQs and converting complex, engineered opportunities into profitable awards; confident negotiating commercial and quality clauses.
- Comfortable supporting FAI and IQ/OQ/PQ activities is a plus.
- Proficiency with ERP/Business Central (or equivalent) for pipeline, pricing, and order tracking; strong for analyses and proposals.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and structured problem‑solving; high ownership with willingness to be on the shop floor.
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Biomedical) or related field.
