Job description
Overview

You will be responsible for managing and enhancing the company's Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system, a critical application in the shipping domain. The role involves working across both the front-end, which handles data mapping and communication protocols (IBM ITX, SBI, MQ), and the back-end, which manages business data and integration rules via legacy Oracle databases and modern Transportation Management Systems. You will analyze shipping-specific EDI requirements, facilitate the onboarding and maintenance of EDI partners, and act as a key link between business teams and technical implementation to ensure efficient and accurate data exchange.

Key responsibilities
  • Collect and advise on EDI requirements during the requirements-gathering phase.
  • Provide expertise during the scoping phase, including validation of EDI specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to drive partner onboarding and implement enhancements, while closely monitoring progress.
  • Deliver timely status updates on onboarding and enhancement activities to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in testing phases, including supporting business users during UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
  • Lead investigations into critical incidents and follow through on resolution.
  • Monitor system performance and initiate action plans for continuous improvement as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into IT/EDI solutions, and build effective working relationships with vendors, business users, and customers.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Solid knowledge of the shipping, supply chain, or logistics industries, with a proactive mindset and the ability to work independently.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience supporting time-sensitive EDI applications, preferably within shipping, supply chain, or logistics sectors.
  • Strong ability to understand business requirements and translate them into effective IT solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, adaptable to a global and multicultural work environment.
  • Proven track record managing multiple medium-to-complex IT projects, collaborating closely with business users and internal IT teams.
  • In-depth understanding of EDI formats such as EDIFACT and ANSI/X12, with the capability to interpret implementation guides into technical specifications.
  • Experience with ITX mapping tools and configuring communication setups using SBI tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries within Oracle environments; Oracle certification is a plus.
