Job summary

About the Role

Job Title: Bunker Trader

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Bunker Trader to join our dynamic trading team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing bunker fuel deals with shipowners, charterers and other marine fuel consumers. This role provides the chance to work with a global network of suppliers and customers, drive sales and make a significant impact in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients (shipowners, operators, charterers, etc.) and suppliers (physical suppliers, traders, oil majors) ensuring high satisfaction levels and repeat business
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to develop the company's customer base and market presence
  • Maintain regular contact with customers to understand their needs and offer tailor-made solutions
  • Provide market intelligence and contribute to internal reports on fuel pricing trends and port developments
  • Coordinate with operations department to ensure timely compliant delivery of fuel and ensuring timely payments
  • Monitor and manage trade-related risks, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulations
Competencies and Skillsets Required:
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to make nimble, informed decisions
  • Expert knowledge of bunker fuel market, port operations, global shipping routes, various marine fuels, quality standards and international regulations
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and competitive industry
Education and Experience required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Economics, Business, Logistics, Finance, Mathematics or any other related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in bunker trading and/or marine fuels trading with a proven track record of success
  • Existing client and supplier network in the bunkering industry in Asia and globally will be a strong advantage
