Job summary

Nanyang Technological University Singapore is seeking a Senior Executive for the LKCMedicine BSL‑3 Facility, a key role in supporting lab operations and ensuring biosafety compliance. This position involves coordinating users, maintaining inventory, and assisting in research activities focused on Risk Group 3 pathogens.

The ideal candidate will possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or Life Sciences and have a strong understanding of Singapore biosafety regulations. A motivated nature and excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months in BSL‑2 lab; animal handling experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of disinfectants/sterilants and aerosol exposure risks.

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes, is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in partnership with Imperial College London, LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The School’s primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group, a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise, facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical School. In August 2024, we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme, that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine, with an emphasis on technology, data science and the humanities.

The LKCMedicine BSL‑3 Facility is a research‑focused biocontainment unit at the Experimental Medicine Building (EMB), NTU. The facility supports research and diagnostic work involving Risk Group 3 pathogens. The Senior Executive plays a critical role in supporting laboratory operations, ensuring biosafety and biosecurity compliance, and enabling safe, efficient research activities within the BSL‑3 environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operations of the NTU LKCMedicine BSL‑3 Facility by providing operational, administrative, and biosafety compliance support for research involving RG3 pathogens
  • Assist with experimental activities
  • Maintain facility inventory and documentation
  • Coordinate facility users and supporting procurement

Key Competencies And Requirements

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences / Life Sciences or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of Singapore biosafety regulations and infectious agents.
  • Minimum 6 months in BSL‑2 lab; animal handling experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of disinfectants/sterilants, aerosol exposure risks; excellent written/verbal communication.
  • Good team player, motivated, willing to learn, strong work ethic.
