Job description
About the role

McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced Crane Barge Supervisor (Piling) to lead crane‑barge and deck operations for steel and reinforced‑concrete pile installation to construct new pier/wharf works at Changi East. You’ll own the piling cycle and production performance while driving best‑in‑class lifting and marine safety. (Company transport from Tanah Merah MRT; alternate‑Saturday roster.)

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the crane‑barge operations and deck crew (crane operator, riggers, signalmen) to execute the piling plan safely and efficiently.
  • Own production KPIs (piles/day, cycle time, downtime), track performance, and drive root‑cause actions to recover schedule.
  • Plan and execute barge moves; manage mooring, anchors, and spuds; coordinate tugs/anchor boats and work with Survey to hold line & level for pile positioning.
  • Coordinate and verify lift plans, load charts, rigging gear and exclusion zones for all heavy lifts on deck; enforce PTW, toolbox briefings and emergency drills. (Aligns with MCD lifting expectations seen in other roles.)
  • Interface daily with Construction/Marine Superintendent and Project Engineers on sequence, methods, weather/tide windows, and quality/ITPs.
  • Oversee barge plant reliability and planned maintenance in coordination with the Project Plant function while protecting production windows.
  • Maintain concise logbooks, daily reports and assist in barge readiness, inspections and audits.
  • Any other duties as may be required by the Company.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will have

  • 5–8 years leading crane‑barge piling for marine civil (pier/jetty/wharf), ideally having served as Barge Foreman/Barge Master or equivalent. (Experience coordinating piling/drilling and rig moves stands out.)
  • Proven competence in anchor handling/mooring/spuds, barge positioning, and working with Survey; familiar with vibro and impact hammers and pile gates/leaders.
  • Certifications (preferred/advantage): WSQ Lifting Supervisor (or commitment to obtain quickly), Rigging & Signalman, Work‑at‑Height, STCW/Basic Safety, and WSH Supervise Construction Work. (Barge Supervisor/BCO and heavy‑lift/derrick experience viewed favorably.)
  • Strong leadership of multi‑national barge crews; crisp communication and coordination with tugs, survey, and site engineers.
  • Able to work an alternate 6‑day work week; company transport from Tanah Merah MRT.
