Job summary

Nanyang Technological University’s National Centre for Research in Digital Trust (DTC) is seeking a Research Engineer to develop, deploy, and maintain backend systems and platform infrastructure for Trust Technology and related areas such as privacy and security.

You will design scalable backend services, manage data storage, and support web applications, collaborating with researchers to translate concepts into production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years industry experience accepted.
• Proficient in Java, Python, Go or C/C++, with backend framework experience.
• Experience with Linux systems and shell scripting.
• Experience developing backend services and deploying web-based apps.
• Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Supabase) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud/container environments for scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain backend services and platform infrastructure.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate outputs into scalable systems.
• Set up databases, storage, and backend services with proper security controls.
• Deploy and maintain web applications with authentication and access control.
• Support deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and scaling for reliable operation.
