Job summary

Shopee Singapore Private Limited's Data Infrastructure team builds a scalable big data platform. You will help develop and optimize OLAP engines (Presto/Trino, ClickHouse, StarRocks, Druid, HBase) and support data teams across the company.

You should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering, be proficient in Java (or C++, Go or Python), and comfortable with SQL. Knowledge of Kubernetes and Open Source is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
• Proficient in Java (or C++, Go or Python), with a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
• Basic understanding of Big Data / OLAP components and their internal mechanisms (HDFS, Presto/Trino, ClickHouse, Druid, HBase, etc), and comfortable with SQL.
• Excellent team collaboration and communication skills, able to respond and resolve issues promptly.
• Experience with OLAP technologies and data modeling is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development, optimization and maintenance of our OLAP and Big Data engines and platform, focusing on one of them: Presto/Trino, ClickHouse, StarRocks, Druid, HBase, Milvus, graph or KV store.
• Engage in system performance tuning and troubleshooting, ensuring service stability and high availability.
• Analyze and solve user problems combining user scenarios, and collaborate with the product team to develop and optimize features based on business requirements.
• Contribute to running the engines on Kubernetes, and explore using AI / LLMs to solve complex problems in troubleshooting and governance.
• Write and maintain related technical documentation and SOPs.

The Data Infrastructure team is responsible for building a stable, efficient, secure, and easy-to-use big data infrastructure and platform for the company. Committed to providing the company's various business teams and data teams, data analysts, machine learning teams, BI teams, etc. with its data-efficient and stable data storage, calculation, query, and analysis of the big data basic system; development and production platform, and data analysis platform.

The OLAP team, part of Shopee Data Infra, builds and runs the company's OLAP and online storage engines - Presto/Trino, ClickHouse, StarRocks, Druid, HBase, Milvus, graph and KV stores - together with the self-service tooling around them.
