Job summary

Talent-Merge is seeking a skilled Backend Engineer in Singapore to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs. You will build distributed microservices, connect multiple systems, and manage both relational and NoSQL databases to ensure data integrity.

You will implement secure coding practices, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with frontend, data teams, and business stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Backend software development experience with enterprise-grade apps.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Java.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend integrations.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Design and implement scalable microservices and distributed system architectures.
• Develop integration components connecting upstream and downstream systems, devices, and data sources.
• Manage and optimise relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query performance, and data integrity.
• Develop data processing, transformation, and analytics services to support business and system requirements.
• Implement application monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities to ensure system reliability and effective troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve backend application, system integration, performance, and production issues.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and secure coding best practices across backend applications.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, data teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Support testing,deployment, CI/CD and production operations while maintaining clean, well-documented, testable code and participating in Agile development activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in backend software development and building enterprise-grade applications,with strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Java.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, microservices, backend integrations, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including query optimisation and data integrity management.
• Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS, with familiarity in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good knowledge of software design patterns, enterprise application architecture, secure coding, GitLab, CI/CD and Agile practices, with strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
