A leading medical technology company in Singapore is seeking an Automation Engineer to innovate within their manufacturing operations. As an Automation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our manufacturing operations by designing, developing, and supporting cutting-edge automation systems that enable world-class production quality, efficiency, and scalability.
As part of our Engineering team, you’ll use your technical expertise to bring ideas to life on the manufacturing floor. Your responsibilities will include:
PLC Programming & Troubleshooting – Develop, optimize, and maintain PLC and HMI programs (Allen Bradley/Rockwell).
Robotics & Automation – Program, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic systems (Fanuc), integrating robotics into high-volume manufacturing lines.
Process Validation – Support equipment qualification and process validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ) within a regulated medical product environment.
Technical Documentation – Ensure all automation systems meet industry standards by documenting changes, validations, and troubleshooting activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Production, NPI, Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE), QA, and Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) teams to deliver robust and scalable manufacturing solutions.
Continuous Improvement – Lead business excellence projects to improve equipment performance, reduce scrap, and deliver measurable cost savings.
Training & Support – Provide technical training and guidance to maintenance and equipment technicians on new equipment, processes, and procedures.
Required qualifications & experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent).
3-5 years of hands-on experience with automated control systems in high-volume manufacturing.
Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley/Rockwell).
Experience with Fanuc robotics programming and troubleshooting.
Solid knowledge of machine vision, servos, sensors, and automation technologies.
Familiarity with safety standards (ISO, IEC, OSHA).
Experience with networked I/O systems (EtherNet/IP, IO-Link).
Strong mechanical aptitude with skills in SolidWorks, mechanical design, and implementing real-world process improvements.
Electrical knowledge, including the ability to read and interpret schematics.
Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and issue resolution.
Background in medical device manufacturing and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
