Job summary

Public Service Division is seeking an Assistant Engineer / Senior Assistant Engineer (Operations) to support the day-to-day operation of Choa Chu Kang Waterworks. You will assist shift operators, monitor water quality data and coordinate contractor activities to maintain safe, reliable plant operations.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical) or equivalent.
• Experience in water treatment or process plant operations is advantageous.
• Familiarity with contract administration or contractor coordination is advantageous.
• Knowledge of SCADA or data analysis tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support shift operators in day-to-day operation of water treatment plants and assist in site inspections to ensure SOPs, WSH regulations and Permit-to-Work compliance.
• Review water sampling and lab results, monitor plant performance data and ensure water quality aligns with WHO, USEPA and EPH guidelines.
• Analyse operational data and water quality trends to identify anomalies and prepare KPI reports for management.
• Administer operations-related contracts, coordinate contractor works on-site, and manage associated documentation including payments and procurement records.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering and operations teams, regulators and vendors to get tasks done effectively.
• Contribute to process improvement and review of SOPs to enhance plant efficiency and support follow-up actions from incidents.

[What the role is]

As an Assistant Engineer / Senior Assistant Engineer (Operations), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following :

[What you will be working on]

• Support shift operators in the day-to-day operation of water treatment plants, assist in conducting site inspections and help ensure compliance with SOPs, WSH regulations and Permit-to-Work systems.
• Review water sampling and laboratory test results, monitor plant performance data and ensure water quality is consistently maintained in accordance with WHO, USEPA and EPH guidelines.
• Analyse operational data and water quality trends to identify anomalies and areas for improvement, and prepare regular performance reports and KPI summaries for management.
• Administer operations-related contracts, coordinate contractor works on-site, and manage associated documentation including payment processing and procurement records.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across the plant, including maintenance, engineering and operations teams, as well as external parties such as regulators and vendors, to get things done together effectively.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the review of SOPs and work instructions to enhance plant efficiency and reliability, and support follow-up actions arising from operational incidents where necessary.

Requirements

• Diploma in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline)
• Experience in water treatment, utilities or process plant operations is an advantage
• Experience in contract administration or contractor coordination is an advantageFamiliarity with SCADA systems or data analysis tools is an advantage

*Candidate with more relevant years of experience can be considered for Senior Assistant Engineer position.
