Job summary

GIC is seeking a Quantitative Strategist in Singapore to apply data science and quantitative methods across datasets, delivering evidence‑based insights for investment decisions.

You will work with investment teams and technology partners to implement models, communicate results, and expand knowledge across the firm. A strong mathematical/quantitative background and programming with R/Python are essential.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/CS/Engineering/Economics or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years in a quantitative role within finance or asset management.
  • Proficiency in R or Python and SQL.
  • Understanding of credits, structured products and financing.

Responsibilities

  • Generate actionable investment insights with quantitative methods to inform decisions.
  • Conduct quantitative research to support investment teams.
  • Communicate results clearly to stakeholders and teams.

External Managers Department

The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing investment opportunities to outperform our benchmarks.

What impact can you make in this role?

You will have the opportunity to apply quantitative and data science techniques to a diverse array of datasets, delivering holistic and evidence‑based insights and recommendations that drive our investment decision‑making. You will also have the chance to innovate and impact various stages of our investment process using quantitative methods and AI/ML tools, enhancing our breadth, depth, and scale in generating investment performance. Additionally, you will contribute to institutionalizing and expanding our collective domain knowledge.

What will you do as a Quantitative Strategist?
  • Generate actionable investment insights with quantitative techniques to drive better decisions and accelerate time to insights for the business
  • Conduct quantitative research and analysis to support and augment the investment teams
  • Communicate quantitative results and solutions effectively to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other teams, including technology and risks, to integrate quantitative models into broader business processes
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
  • Advanced degree in fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics
  • Minimally 2 years in a quantitative role within finance
  • Proficiency in R or Python and SQL
  • Understanding of credits, structured products and financing
  • Be highly motivated, intellectually curious and adept at multi‑tasking
  • Independent thinker who is able articulate his/her views well, both in verbal and written form
  • Strong team player who is comfortable in fostering new internal and external relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand, influence and obtain buy‑in from stakeholders effectively
  • Funds or funds of funds experience would be an advantage
