About the role

We seek an experienced actuary looking for a new challenge and to advance to the next level. Day to day you will have the opportunity to bring your expertise to assist clients making decisions around capital, reinsurance and pricing. You will also work in close collaboration with brokers at different stages of the transaction process to deliver best in class and tangible results to our clients. As such, we expect you to have regular contacts with brokers, clients and reinsurers and building your network, whether internally or externally, will be encouraged.

You will contribute to differentiate Howden Re in the marketplace by delivering superior service to existing clients and to shape our Analytical offering to help win new business. This includes the following key tasks:

  • Design, price, and assess reinsurance structures using actuarial techniques, internal tools and models.
  • Analyze client data to assist brokers in structuring and evaluating impact of various reinsurance programs.
  • Interpret catastrophe modelling outputs and advise clients on catastrophe risk
  • Support the delivery of actuarial and financial modeling services to external clients

We already have a good share of regional and global multi-national accounts that, along with local business in regional markets, make for the opportunity to work on varied actuarial projects and lines of business.

Required qualifications
  • Ideally 4-5 years of relevant background in the (re-) insurance industry
  • Profound understanding of actuarial methods, accounting principles, capital and risk management and regulatory environment
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Team player attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Proficient IT skills including data visualization tools such as PowerBI
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in actuarial science or a related field (mathematics or finance)
  • Actuarial certification by a globally recognized actuarial association, or actively pursuing such actuarial qualification
