Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Desk Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the desk's financial performance and risk metrics. This role involves close collaboration with global account managers, credit analysts, finance, product control, and risk teams to ensure accurate reporting, effective limits management, and strategic decision-making support.

Strategy

• CIB Markets Credit Trading is the focal point of all credit trading and investments in the Bank. The Central Credit Unit (CCU) is a sub team investing as a buy side participant separate from the sell side activities in Credit Trading. The investments may form part of the Bank’s HQLA and Contingent Liquidity Reserve as well as solving for optimised RoTE and revenue opportunities.

• Awareness and understanding of the strategy and business model of the Group and CCU as appropriate to the role.

Business

• Work to support CCU in developing and executing a strategy for optimal management of the CCU portfolio on a global basis maximising returns and capital efficiency.

• Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group and CCU operates in.

• Responsibilities include (i) limits management, (ii) RWA management (iii) P&L and RWA forecasting (iv) P&L and Client Income monitoring (v) market risk monitoring (vi) strategic management information creation

Processes

• Responsible for limits management for the desk, including maintaining records, liaising with Global Account Managers (GAMs) and Credit Analysts (CAs), calibrating desk requests and following up on limit asks with relevant stakeholders.

• Responsible for understanding the capital treatment of instruments used by the portfolio, including new positions, calculating Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), ensuring trades meet RoRWA hurdles and helping to manage the capital metrics.

• Responsible for P&L and RWA forecasting for the desk, working closely with Finance to ensure calculations are kept up to date with portfolio changes.

• Responsible for monitoring of Client Income (CI) and other P&L related issues, working closely with Product Control to ensure accurate reporting.

• Responsible for the creation of Strategic Management Information (MI) decks for strategic decision-making support.

• Support the team in overseeing risk metrics, working closely with Risk team

• Develop, validate, and maintain predictive models and quantitative tools to support credit risk management, leveraging statistical techniques and data analysis to enhance decision-making processes.

• Conduct credit analysis and risk assessment of potential and existing names to determine their creditworthiness and financial stability, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations.

• To embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process. Towards this, to effectively carry out the assigned role, if any, under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Assurance.

• Ensure that the business meets its obligations in the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy and Standards and under local laws and regulations.

• Help ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Help monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations

• Accountable for helping to establish and maintain frameworks to ensure processes are efficient, appropriate and compliant with all internal and external regulations.

People & Talent

• Be part of a transparent and collaborative culture in which incentives are based on support of Client Income with specific performance metrics on the Bank's values.

• To work in partnership with the CCU team to ensure that the CCU product is meeting clients’ and the bank’s objectives

Risk Management

• Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and manage them.

• Embed operational risk management and reporting as an integral part of the business process.

• Ensure that adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in place to comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes.

• Monitor all major risk issues and concentrations. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to Risk Committees

Governance

• Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

• Promote an environment where compliance with internal control functions and the external regulatory framework is a central priority of the business

• Establish, maintain and supervise the framework to ensure business functions under individual’s area of responsibility comply with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations and adhere to the expected high standards set out in the FM Code of Conduct

• Manage the implementation of CCU specific strategies and ensure that performance objectives are met, and e-learnings are completed on time.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
