Job description
Assistant Station Manager

Salary:

Basic salary of $1800 to $2200 (subjected to work experiences)

Fixed monthly allowance of $250.

Job Purpose

Supports day‑to‑day station operations, including preparing for rail service, conducting security patrols, assisting commuters, and handling emergencies. Oversees commuter flow, crowd management, equipment recovery, incident response, and station access.

Responsibilities

Customer Service: Troubleshoot AFC equipment (fare gates, ticketing machines), handle fare enquiries, assist unwell passengers with first aid, monitor CCTV, make necessary public announcements, and respond to alarms status.

Operations: Ensure commuter safety on escalators and trains, attend to platform/train incidents, perform hand signalman duties, assist with detrainment, provide travel guidance/directions, and man trains during faults to minimise delays.

Concourse Duties: Conduct inspections to address illegally parked or abandoned bicycles and belongings, and take appropriate action against fare evasion, misuse of concession tickets, or breaches of station regulations such as eating, drinking, or smoking within station premises.

Administrative Duties: Liaise with cleaning personnel for station upkeep. Report equipment faults to Station Manager and file report through Maintenance Management System (MMS).

Opening & Closing of station: Open and close the station according to schedule, ensure all equipment is switched on/off, check for remaining passengers before closure, and facilitate track access during non‑revenue hours, including safety checks after engineering trains.

Handles all train/station incidents and emergencies: Ensure proper signage and updates during service delays/incidents to keep passengers updated, and support service recovery during disruptions.

Manages and reports all incidents and emergency situations relating to:

  • Staff and passenger (e.g. accident, assault, molest, etc.)
  • Trains (e.g. alarms, faults and manning of trains)
  • Passenger Service Centre (take local control of MFT functions due to failure of signalling equipment, responding to alarms/defects)
  • Stations (e.g. crowd control, fire, bomb hoax, flooding, etc.)
Requirements
  • NITEC/Higher NITEC in Engineering discipline.
  • Able to perform 3 rotating shift work based on a duty roster.
  • Enjoys communicating with people and is service oriented.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced and customer‑facing environment.
  • Possesses a service‑oriented mindset and pleasant disposition.
  • Able to multi‑task effectively when responding to station operation requirements.
