Assistant Retail Manager – Sustainable Foods & Beverages

Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Customer Experience
- Lead, coach, and mentor retail team members to deliver outstanding customer service rooted in sustainability and product knowledge.
- Foster a welcoming, educational shopping environment and ensure prompt, professional resolution of customer concerns.
- Model high standards of service and communication for the entire team.
Store Operations & Merchandising
- Oversee all daily store operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and a consistently positive customer experience.
- Manage product merchandising, including strategic placement of sustainable and seasonal items to maximize visibility and sales.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual standards.
Inventory & Vendor Management
- Oversee inventory processes, including ordering, stock rotation, and accurate tracking to minimise waste and ensure product freshness.
- Build strong relationships with vendors—especially local and sustainable partners—to support product selection and availability.
- Monitor product performance and recommend adjustments to meet customer needs and sustainability goals.
Team Management
- Train, schedule, and evaluate team members, ensuring alignment with company values and performance expectations.
- Promote a collaborative, supportive team culture focused on continuous improvement and shared purpose.
Sales & Reporting
- Analyse sales trends, customer feedback, and operational data to inform decision‑making.
- Implement strategies to meet sales targets, enhance customer satisfaction, and improve store efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety guidelines, and sustainability standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail management (experience in the food, beverage, or sustainability sector is a strong plus).
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Strong interest in sustainability, organic food, and eco‑friendly practices.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
- Experience with inventory management, merchandising, and cash handling.
- Ability to balance hands‑on tasks with strategic oversight in a fast‑paced environment.
