Job summary

Duke-NUS Medical School invites applications for an Assistant Professor, AI Pathogen Genomics, within the Dean's Office. The appointment will advance research and platform development at the interface of AI and pathogen genomics, joining COP’s outbreak preparedness with CBDS’s AI and computational biology expertise.

The role requires leadership in AI/data science for infectious diseases, multi-institution collaboration, grant development and high-quality publications.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in AI, ML, computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics or related field.
• Evidence of research independence, leadership, and potential for external funding or grants.
• Strong track record in AI/data science applied to genomics or public health.
• Experience with scalable analytical pipelines, software engineering practices and privacy-preserving analytics.
• Ability to collaborate across academic, public health and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop applied research at AI, pathogen genomics and outbreak preparedness.
• Design and evaluate AI-enabled methods for pathogen genomic analysis (variant detection, lineage classification, AMR prediction).
• Build collaborations with Duke-NUS, SingHealth, public health agencies and international partners.
• Contribute to grant proposals and externally funded programmes.
• Publish high-quality research outputs and translate findings for public health practice.
